Clinique DDMG and Acne Emergency Lotion Review + Upcoming Blog Sale!
Hi everyone! Miss me? haha. I’ve been gone for quite a while. I was away focusing on my school work and learning to drive. haha. But I’m back and I will be doing a lot more reviews in the next coming weeks.
Also, I’ll be having a Blog Sale this week so definitely check back again or subscribe to my blog to keep updated. =)
First, I’ll review Clinique’s Acne Solutions Emergency lotion. A couple of months ago, my face broke out really bad from my previous skincare routine and from eating too much dessert tofu. haha. It’s true! For some reason my skin breaks out really bad whenever I eat tofu (weird, huh?) and once I stopped all my pimples slowly disappeared but there was some that stubborn to go away! I decided to try out a few Clinique products to use as part of my skincare routine to help get rid of my blemishes.
I’ve never really been attracted to Clinique products in the past but after trying out their Acne Solutions Emergency lotion I’ve been hooked. It’s contains 5% Benzoyl Peroxide which helps to clear stubborn, recurring blemishes, and unclogs pores. I was going to buy Clear & Clear Benzoyl Peroxide at the drugstore but remembered that it didn’t help me in the past so I bought Clinique’s Acne Solution instead. It cost $13.50US and I believe it’s around $15 – $17 in Canadian dollars. The only problem I have with Benzoyl Peroxide is that when the pimple disappears it leaves a scar, so I have quite a few acne scars around my face. I’m still trying to find a good spot treatment that could lighten my acne scars. If anyone has recommendations please leave a comment! It will be greatly appreciated. haha. Thanks!!! I’m already on my second tube of this. I rarely use it though, since I don’t have a lot of acne anymore but I bought a third tube just in case. haha.
Next, is Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (DDMG). It’s oil-free, very light and cooling and like all Clinique’s products it’s allergy tested and 100% fragrance free. It does, however, have a really strong scent (but not bad though) and contains coloring as one of the last ingredients.
It’s a good basic moisturizer for those who have normal to combination skin or acne prone skin. The only thing is, is that, it’s not as moisturizing as I would like it to be. BUT I do find that it has really good oil control. My face isn’t as oily during the day and I usually don’t find the need to blot or even re-apply powder. I prefer gel type moisturizers or light lotions for my face, creams tend to be too heavy for me and causes more oil to produce on my face. I wouldn’t recommend using this moisturizer during the winter months though, as it is too light and not moisturizing enough.
It comes in a tube or pump version. I bought the tube version (CAN$15, 50ml) to try out first and then got the pump version. If you plan to use Clinique’s DDMG for quite some time I suggest getting the pump version (CAN$31, 125ml) because with the tube version air can easily get in. But, if you just want to sample the product buy the tube version instead. =) Overall, I’m really liking this product.
Please do check back again for more upcoming product reviews and upcoming Blog Sale.
SANA Konuka Rich Skin Lotion & Kose Softymo Nose Clean Pack

Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been fighting a really bad cold for almost a week now and been stuck in bed so this post is a bit late. Anyways, my first Adambeauty purchased arrived last week. I was pretty surprised how fast the shipping was. It only took 4-5 days to arrive which is pretty fast I think. I purchased two SANA Konuka Rich Skin Lotion and the Kose Softymo Nose Clean Pack.
I’ve purchased SANA Konuka Lotion before on Ebay. It’s a facial toner and you can purchase this in light or in the rich version. I’ve never tried the light version but the rich version is a thick clear liquid and more moisturizing, which is great for the winter months.
Based on the bottle it contains purified rice Ceramide (derived from rice bran) and is rich in vitamins and minerals. I LOVE anything with Rice Bran, I use a 100% Natural Rice Bran Powder that I purchase from ChidoriyaWorld as a cleanser (can also be used as a mask) every night and works really well, plus it helps to whiten the skin and does not dry the skin (I will do a review on that next time). There’s also no fragrance, no alcohol, no coloring and no mineral oil are added in this toner. I would recommend this for anyone who has sensitive skin or even those with oily or acne-prone skin. It’s very moisturizing and works well as a good basic toner. I like it a lot and so does my mom and brother, which is the reason why I purchased two from Adam beauty. haha. It’s pretty affordable too, $14US with shipping included.
I also got the Kose Softymo Nose clean pack to test out. I haven’t used nose strips in a long time. I used the Biore ones before but it hurt so much when you had to take it out so I stopped using it. But this Kose one is pretty good, it doesn’t hurt when you peel it off and it does get those stubborn blackheads out. The package comes with 10 strips, all individually packed.
I had a hard time using it at first, I wet the nose strip instead of wetting my nose and all the black stuff went everywhere. It was pretty disgusting. But on my second try I got it right. You’re suppose to wet your nose first and then apply the strip and wait 5 minutes before removing. I apply this once a week after a shower and before applying my skincare. My nose feels really soft after and clean. I would probably repurchase this again. I got the nose strips pack for $5.50US with shipping included, not bad eh?
Oh btw, I added a link on the bottom right for those who would like to subscribe to my page. If you subscribe to my page before please subcribe again through the link provided. Thanks!
DDF Nourishing Eye Cream
I bought DDF’s Nourishing Eye Cream last weekend after reading Fuz’s Anti-aging post that she had done a while ago. I haven’t used eye cream in a long time after having a bad experience with using Shiseido ’s Brightening Eye Cream. =( It caused a few milia under my eyes, it wasn’t pretty. haha. I’ve been using this eye cream for almost a week now, and I’m loving it (Thanks Fuz!). It’s not thick or oily like most Shiseido eye creams and this is very light and moisturizing.
It says on the box that it restores moisture and contains vitamins A, C, E, B5 & Green Tea (I love anything that has vitamins and Green Tea. haha). It’s also good for anyone who has sensitive skin (it contains no fragrance) but I don’t think this will get rid of under eye circles though, actually I don’t think any creams can. Under eye circles are usually caused by lack of sleep, stress, or even genetics. I have under eye circles from sleeping late (I blame the TV) I’m also trying to get more beauty sleep to get rid of them, I even take naps in the afternoon now. lol.
The DDF Nourishing Eye Cream is also very expensive. I got it at Sephora for $54CAD for 0.5oz , it’s small but it can last you for a while since you only use very little around your eyes. I love the look of the packaging too, really cute, the only thing that I don’t like about the packaging is that the product dries up in the nozzle but everything else, it’s great.
I also bought a new nail polish by OPI’s Nicole Line called “Boys N’ Berry”. haha. I love the name. This is actually my first OPI nail polish and the color is really gorgeous. I tried it last night and it’s like a pretty reddish berry color.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter for $3.00?!
On Sunday, I also went out and bought the Moringa Body Butter from The Body Shop. I really love this stuff! I’m on my 6th jar, very moisturizing and the fragrance is so wonderful. It really does smell like Moringa, reminds of the Philippines too. haha. And guess how much I bought it for???? THREE DOLLARS! Yes indeed. How you ask? TBS Love Your Body Membership of course! I swear, since I signed up in October, I saved more than a hundred dollars with this. It cost me about $7-$10CAD to sign up and you get 10% off every purchase and earn points. On your 4th point you get a free product up to $15.00 and on your 8th point you get to choose a free product up to $25CAD. The original price of the Moringa Butter is $20.00CAD and with my points they took off $15CAD + $2CAD (my 10% off) so I only had to pay $3.00CAD plus tax so it came out to $3.15CAD. Not bad huh? The saleslady was pretty shocked too when she told me the total. haha. I love anything that will save me money.
This is my new Ru Journal. If you don’t know yet, I love to draw. This is one of my favorite journals for note-taking and even doing sketches. I love the color. I have a purple one that I keep in purse for note-taking and a red one for my journal sketches. It’s an awesome journal, very versatile and the paper is great too. It’s like a cheaper version of the Moleskine but just as good. It cost me only $5.99CAD at Chapters. There’s still a few other things that I got on Sunday and will post them up tomorrow. Have a great day! =)
My First Review. =)
Hi everyone! This is going to be short review so that I won’t bore you. haha. Last Sunday, I bought myself the Shiseido Tsubaki Shampoo & Conditioner. I’ve been using Pantene’s High Shine for almost two months now and it seems to be drying out my hair and scalp. I don’t think it’s because of the product, I think the reason why is because I’ve been using Pantene for almost two years now and I guess my hair can’t take it anymore. It’s too bad though ‘cuz I really like Pantene’s products especially their Midnight Expressions Shampoo & Conditioners.
I didn’t want to use any other drugstore brand (I tried them all!) and I remembered about Shiseido’s Tsubaki Haircare line. I found a place in Chinatown that sells it for $16.99CAD which I think is a pretty reasonable price. In T&T Supermarket they sell them for $25CAD! If you live in the Calgary area, you can find the Shiseido Tsubaki Haircare Line at the “Baby Face Skincare Products” store on the 2nd floor of Dragon City Mall. I bought the Golden Repair line which comes in a white 550ml pump dispenser and is used for dry, permed, color-treated and coarse hair. It also comes in a Red pump bottle too, the original version, which is used for fine, dry, and thick hair. With the white bottle it’s hard to tell which is the Conditioner and which one is the Shampoo. The owner of the shop told me that the bottle with the bumpy surface on the pump is the Shampoo. But you can also tell by the color of the container, one is more off white which is the conditioner and the Shampoo container is more white.
Shiseido Tsubaki line uses the extract of the camellia raticulata seed to help moisturize and rejuvenate dry brittle hair. Camellia oil has been used in Japan for generations to soften, smooth, and protect the hair and skin. I use the Oshima Tsubaki Camellia Oil for my hair, skin, and nails as well and it’s really great (I’ll review that next time). As for the fragrance, I find it to be very nice and not too overpowering. I have used this for two days and have seen a great improvement on my hair, even on the first try! My mom loves this too. =)
YAY!
